Vision

A fairer and better world in which:

people are freed from the drudgery of jobs that could be better done by computers
anyone who wants to use technology to help people can earn a living doing so in a pleasant and supportive environment
technology plays its part in reversing the trend of resources being taken away from the people who need them most and used to destroy the planet

We aim to help our vision become a reality by:

creating a great place to do useful, meaningful work in return for a decent living
building a successful digital agency that profitably builds industry-leading applications and websites for clients
developing an innovative structure that maximises worker freedom, support and effectiveness
investing the surplus from commercial work in projects that help bring about our vision
developing the Outlandish structure in such a way that others can copy it or that it can grow to incorporate everyone who wants to be part of it
ensuring that Outlandish is much more efficient and effective than non-co-operative agencies so that it can out-compete them commercially and deliver its social purpose effectively

We go about our mission by:

building websites and applications for clients
training and supporting each other
finding and winning opportunities for profitable work for each other, especially where the work makes the world fairer and less arduous
enabling each Outlander to do more good than they would be able to do alone
developing great digital products that attract clients and Outlanders
providing good, honest advice and research to clients and causes that support our vision so that they can achieve their aims
advocating for end users or beneficiaries for whom the technology we build is ultimately for
building, funding, finding and supporting technical solutions that help bring about our vision
promoting our values, mission and products to potential collaborators
exploring new ways of organising ourselves more effectively and sharing these with others who could benefit
finding and working with other organisations that share our goals
building infrastructure that allows ourselves and others to work together in a way that suits us all
